Our inquisitive brains

Oscar has been really interested in the photos that Mrs Guerin had put on the wall. Stating prior knowledge that he already knows and also asking lots of questions of the unknown. Today Oscar was asking about the Policemen wearing black and why they are wearing different clothes to normal Police?

This lead into a mini investigation using the internet to answer the questions:
  1. What are the Policemen in black called?
  2. Why do they use different clothes?
  3. What do they do?

Very quickly we had a little team of investigators surrounding the laptop supporting me in typing in the questions. We found out that we like information in the form of videos because we can listen to the information and we do not need to be able to read.

We found out that:
  1. That they are called AOS Police which stands for Armed Offender Squad.
  2. We did not find the answer to the question on the internet but through conversation we decided that they wear black to camouflage when they are in danger, helmets to protect their heads from the weapons and they might have more padding and armor on because of the high risk of danger.
  3. The AOS provide support to Police when there is an event involving firearms e.g. guns or similarly dangerous weapons.
