Maths, Maths, Maths through PLAY!!!

In TKW we try really hard to allow the children's play to be child directed and uninterrupted. It is about letting children 'go' to do what they need to do, to learn and to grow. Children follow their own deep play patterns coded into their body and developing brain, whether they are deeply engrossed in their own world or when interacting and playing with other children. This type of play is extremely beneficial and is the real engine for learning.

But there are also those golden, teachable moments through children's play that us teachers and adults grab and slightly scaffold for a teacher led outcome.

Watch to see the maths we did today using our Pokemon cards. Mason caught my attention when he sat down and started to count his cards and lay them out in a circle, the maths grew from there :)

Watch the whole video to see the amazing learning unfold!
