First day back fun!

Term 2 started off with a bang. Everyone was excited to be back and happy to see their friends. Miss Stella and Mrs Guerin spent some time in the holidays re-arranging our PlayZone environment to create more special areas for our tamariki to enjoy.
Children learn from people, places and things.

You would have realised over Term 1 that we change our rooms around often as we value the environment as the 3rd teacher. Children are constantly learning regardless of the involvement of an adult/teacher or their peers. Children are active learners, which means play spaces need to be stimulating and offer children many opportunities.

'In order to act as an educator for child, the environment has to be flexible; it must undergo frequent modification by the children and the teachers in order to remain up to date and responsive to children's needs to be leaders in constructing their own knowledge.'
(Edwards, Gandini, and Foreman, 1998, p.177).
